A comparison of two of my most used bags from the same line.
After having had my Mini Belt Bag for over a year, I had had thoughts of selling it after wondering if it was the right size for me to use and some concerns about the functionality of it for my lifestyle. I nearly sold the bag when I picked it up while cleaning our walk-in and immediately realized I didn't want to part with it.
I know it sounds cheesy but after having the year I had had, that bag holds a special place in my heart. When I pick it up, it brings me joy. I made the choice to keep it and on my most recent trip to Vancouver visited the Celine boutique at Nordstrom and took the opportunity to try on the Nano size which offers a detachable crossbody strap unlike the Mini. Let's discuss the the comparisons below:
Exterior Zipped Back Pocket | Detachable Crossbody Strap (21") |
Detachable Shoulder Strap (14") | Snap Closure |
Metal Feet | Fits a iPhone 11 Pro |
Sliding Top Closure | Perfect Everyday Size |
Fits an iPad/ full sized professional camera | |
Originally when I planned to get the Mini size it was for the fact that I could use it to bring my iPad to school as I didn't have many bags that were this size, I loved the fact that it had the metal feet on it (always a win, so you know your bag is protected when it's on the ground) but I did find myself having difficulties opening the front closure on this bag, especially when on the move. If I was standing I would have to prop it up on my hip or leg so that I could push down on the closure to then pull it up, and for a while this was a big deterrent for me using the bag although the fact that it is a grained leather made it a regular bag on my rotation. I was genuinely concerned about how I felt with regards to the strap length as I'm not much of a shoulder bag girl, my only real one is my Chloe Faye but I try not to use shoulder bags as frequently because I find myself adjusting them regularly.
When I decided to keep this bag, I put in my mind that I would make an effort to get a crossbody strap for this so that I would be more likely to use it, I'm thinking that perhaps next year for my birthday that might be what I buy myself. I love this bag, and although it has some cons for me they are outweighed by the pros and I couldn't see myself parting with it.
So far I've found myself wearing the Nano size pretty regularly, especially running errands since it's so easy to get into with its magnetic snap closure and the crossbody strap which makes it a great hands free bag, although I do occasionally use the top handle. It's the perfect size to fit my essentials in, (keys, phone, and full size wallet). Everything fits comfortably and there's space for more if I needed to. Honestly the only con is that there are no metal feet on this size.

I must admit I think this is one of my favourite bag designs of all time, it's simple elegance and barely noticeable logo are a big draw for me.
I will always have more versions of this bag on my wishlist, my next favourite would be the Lavender Grey colour in the Nano size. I tried it on while I was in Vancouver on my last trip and had a difficult time deciding which colour option to go with.
Personally I'm finding myself more drawn to the Nano Size as an everyday style, but my Mini size is perfect for carrying a bit extra like if I'm wanting to bring my camera without using my camera bag. They're both great sized bags for different kinds of outings.
Let me know your thoughts on this bag below!
