Health & Wellness: Lymphatic Drainage

Another amazing visit to Volta Clinic to see Shannon where I received the coveted Lymphatic Drainage Massage, beloved by many around the world for its benefits.

Let's start off with a little lesson on Lymphatic Drainage and its benefits for the Body and Immune System.

Lymphatic Drainage is something that you can have done professionally or do at home in between massages, although it's not quite the same thing without all the bells and whistles.

You may be thinking, "What does it do?"

It helps with Bloat, Water retention and Metabolism. If you feel like you take longer to digest food or feel like you carry a lot of excess water this may be a great step towards minimizing Bloat, Water Retention and helping you with your Metabolism.

The Treatment

As preparation Shannon asked that I have 2 litres of water for the days leading up to the treatment, I was also given a glass of water prior to the massage. With all of the extra water floating around and the Abdominal Stimulation Massage, which consisted of pushing down and outwards the combination ends up flushing all of the waste towards your bladder and in general out of your body.

The massage focuses primarily on your lower abdomen, ribcage and neck. It's a hands on treatment but also incorporates several other instruments from Gua Sha Stones (which are used on both the abdomen and neck), a Wooden Massage Roller, a Dual Headed Facial Massager, Vacuum Cupping and an Infrared Light Belt. The treatment is 60 minutes of pure bliss and of course great conversation.

Honestly, massages are my zen. They send me to a place of pure bliss and I feel like I'm in the clouds. And this massage truly did that for me, especially finishing up with the Infrared Light Belt holding in the heat.

When you think about it, we give our face, skin, nails and hair so much maintenance and love but how often do we treat our bodies? Remember that it deserves just as much love for all it does for us daily.

Looking for that perfect treat? Book in for the Lymphatic Drainage Massage with Shannon at Volta today, your body with thank you.
