Back to basics with some pieces from #Aritzia
I've shopped at Aritzia since I was in College, I wanted to in High School but couldn't afford it and so finally when I was in College and had a job I would spend my money on all the staple pieces that I could. I've noticed that this year there seems to be a return to pieces from the 80's and 90's which I'm more than alright with as those are some of my favourite decades for movies and fashion, the spandex, boyfriend fit everything and of course the Queen of Fashion herself, Lady Diana.
Those of us who shop at Aritzia regularly know the staple pieces; The Montpellier Sweater, The Thais Cardigan (now known as the Plunge Front Cardigan), The Melina Pant and The Daria Pant. These are great pieces that are returned to time and time again, and with the release of new styles or colours why not.
But really is there anything wrong with going back to an item you love? Not at all, and that's why it's great to invest in good basics. That's why this year I'm sticking to some of the best pieces in my mind.
The Shacket- The Ganna Long Shacket
The trend of the year, the Shacket . Utility jackets are very much in and I couldn't be happier that they are as I love this style as a year round piece. Shackets are great for layering in the fall and using with a dress in the summer. As some of you may know this is one of my most used Aritzia pieces in my wardrobe and that is why I am looking to add the long version to my wardrobe.
The Denim Jacket- Denim Forum The Ali Oversized Jacket
Denim Jackets have always been a hit or miss for me, but anything that is boyfriend fit has always made me feel more than comfortable. I'm hoping that this one will look as good on me as it does on the model, but you never know till you try.
The Vegan Leather Leggings- Wilfred Free Daria Pant
These leggings have been raved about for years, and I have yet to try them but I love leggings as a go to piece for layering with a good flannel or hoodie or even a button up shirt. These come in both a full length and an ankle length, which is my go to length for leggings.
The Convertible Cardigan- Plunge Front Cardigan
Not just your grandad's cardigan although those are one of my favourites, I had one of my Opa's (German Grandfather) that I would use whenever I went to Ontario that has always held a special place in my heart although I no longer have it. The Plunge Front Cardigan is a sexier version of your everyday style, as most people wear it with nothing underneath or a lacy bra, but you can also turn it around to have the buttons on the back which is a fun twist. I used to own this sweater but sold it in a scurry of cleaning out my closet which I'm now regretting.
