Review: Celine Medium Strap Wallet

Purchased December 2019, at Nordstrom Vancouver.

After having had this wallet for about two years, I felt that it was about time for a wear and tear, and overall review. The Celine Medium Strap Wallet in Grained Leather is definitely one that isn't talked about enough in the Luxury Fashion community just like any other Celine pieces. I feel that Celine is often passed over for more well known brands like Louis Vuitton, or Chanel so here's one for everyone out there who like me loves a more understated look.

When I first purchased this wallet I used it for a while being so in love with it, and then I put it back in its dust bag and switched back to one of my less expensive card holders. (I think this was because I was so worried about damaging the wallet.) Although that was the case, I wasn't as careful as I should have been because the first time I put it away I didn't make sure the interior zipper was facing the right way, this sounds a bit silly but on the underside of the zipper there is a pointy piece which actually caused a large indent into the smooth leather interior of the wallet.

This left a bit of a bitter feeling towards the wallet and I put it away for a while and I even contemplated selling the wallet because I was so upset.

(Thankfully no one was willing to offer what I was looking to for and I ended up removing the sale listing.) I think I've been rather lucky in that sense where I think that I'm done with an item but when it doesn't sell it's just a second chance, and I'm beyond happy that I got a second chance with this piece.

After a while I missed using the wallet, especially as I was using my bags less frequently but also because well I loved the colour I got the wallet in and it was also just one of the more functional wallets of the two I have. (My Chanel Lambskin wallet is much more high maintenance and Lambskin is more prone to scratching or scuffs than grained leather.)

The grained leather on the outside of the wallet makes it easier for me to carry without being as concerned about scratching it on my phone or anything when I'm using it, and it's handy because it has space for all of my necessary cards (ID, Credit Cards, etc.) I use this as my daily wallet for walks with the dog, carrying it in my belt bag, or going out to dinner, running errands and more.

I got my wallet in the colour "Amazone" the colour I was originally looking to get my Belt Bag in, which is a beautiful dark forest green. The colour is so rich and a perfect addition to my otherwise entirely neutral collection of accessories. While the colour isn't available for purchase online in Canada, your local store is likely to have more options available.

I purchased the medium size, anything larger would have felt too big (close to a clutch in my opinion) and I've never been to keen on carrying more than I needed. The wallet has card slots on the interior as well as a bill pouch and zipped coin areas both on the inside and outside. While I am an overly worried person, I have worried in the past about carrying bills inside the wallet and them falling out but I've never had this happen thankfully!

Overall a really great piece, and perfect choice for anyone looking to start their collection! I personally think that Celine is so classic, and won't ever go out of style which is what I'm leaning more towards with all of my future luxury purchases. If you're looking for a pop of colour, there are two toned models of this wallet available as well as several other great options for Celine SLG's. I've linked some of my favourites below.

Thanks for the read!
