Review: Celine Mini Belt Bag

Purchased April 2020 from Poshmark, a great everyday piece for any style.

I had originally hoped to purchase a Celine Mini Belt Bag as my graduation present for completing my Certificate at Camosun College in April of 2020, and as things changed it didn't seem quite as doable with the fact that I no longer had a job.

It came around to my birthday, and I had been browsing Poshmark, one of the online consignment platforms and found a Belt Bag pre-owned in an ivory colour at a fraction of the cost of a new one, something that I could still afford while supporting sustainable fashion.

The owner at the time was selling as she was concerned about the colour of the bag and scared about using it as marks were more likely to show on a white bag.

The piece was gorgeous, a beautiful shape and in great condition for the asking price. With the size of the bag it had the sliding close for the front flap as opposed to the snap closure that the smaller versions like the nano have, which can be a little tedious at times.

We agreed on a price, and she threw in her dust bag from one of her other Celine bags so that I would have something to keep it stored in as she had lost the original one that came with the bag.

The bag arrived within the week packaged amazingly in the dust bag, with stuffing inside and I loved it. My big concern at the time was the shape of the bag, as I had been made aware by reading that the bag does tend to slouch and I do prefer my bags to be a little bit more structured. (I did eventually buy an insert... nearly a year later, better than never!)

The insert has been more than helpful with keeping the shape as well as useful for organization. I do find that the slouchy look has started to grow on me a bit more though so I'm less concerned but continue to use the organizer to help to look after the bag as best as possible.

I learnt on the first day that I took it out for a test run that the shoulder strap was less than ideal for me, unfortunately with the mini size the strap is only long enough to go over the shoulder and doesn't go crossbody. So for me, as when I do use a bigger bag for work that means that the weight is only distributed to one shoulder and tends to dig in. But thankfully Celine sells straps on their own and you can always customize to another strap from another company like Louis Vuitton or Dior.

While that is a bit of a downer for me, I do still love the bag, it's a classic piece and wears beautifully although personally I've found that the Nano Belt Bag is a bit more suitable for my body shape and size than the mini but often it's not just about looks.

After taking the Pro's and Con's into consideration I am so happy to have this bag, it's functional and classic and one of the things I love about Celine is it's understated elegance. This bag will be used for years to come, and is a great bag for using on photoshoots where I'm not looking to carry my actual camera bag or if I were to go to a meeting where I needed my tablet, as it comfortably fits an iPad.

For anyone considering it, I would highly suggest the Celine Belt Bag. Although I do suggest going in to the store and trying on the different sizes to see what is the best fit for you. I recently added the Celine Nano Belt Bag to my collection in the Light Taupe and I do love both but for different occasions and uses.

Let me know your thoughts on the Celine Belt Bag, whether it's on your wishlist or something you have already.

Thanks for reading!
