Review: Givenchy Antigona Mini

Purchased April 2020 from Vestiaire Collective

This bag has been on my wish list since I was in high school; I discovered it on Pinterest one day and the sheen from the rose gold leather was captivating. When I saw it on Vestiaire Collective I had just purchased the smaller size in the Baby Pink Sugar leather, (which I found was unfortunately not the right shape for my body type and felt too big for me at my height of 5'4",being fairly petite at the time), but this immediately caught my eye and brought me back to high school days, that girl dreaming about bags.

I will now introduce my Givenchy Mini Antigona in Rose Gold leather. She arrived in immaculate condition, but had some wear yes, however this color is no longer available so she is a few years old for sure and the wear gives some character. It was near unnoticeable to me but my mom saw and asked if I was aware of the condition when I purchased it, (I had not seen all of the wear through photos as when purchasing online you're rolling the dice, you won't always be able to see everything), but I was still more than happy to keep it.

I find myself to be a fair bit happier with pre-owned handbags than I usually am with new ones, I feel as though it could be because I am offering them a new home and helping to encourage sustainable fashion.

Now for the bag itself, let's talk a little bit more about it.

This color is drop dead gorgeous, the metallic color is amazing and it really stands out while still acting as a neutral piece. I love a good versatile bag, and it helps when it's got both a crossbody strap and a top handle.

The shape helps for it to be super versatile and seeing as I usually only carry a few things it's the perfect size for me to use every day and still have space left over.

The leather being a grained texture makes it even more durable so any scratches or marks are hidden well especially with the metallic texture. I find myself to be more drawn to silver hardware so I was pleased how nicely the silver mixed with the rose gold.

The crossbody strap on this bag is detachable, (with really edgy spikes near the hardware), however I personally have had a couple of near misses of it coming undone, (a couple of times it has actually come undone while I was walking and I caught it before it hit he ground), since the pieces slide together. It's not the end of the world and seeing as I do typically wear it crossbody I'm sure something could be fashioned to simply just keep it together.

My only other qualm with the bag is that sometimes it's not the easiest to get into, a little harder to open the zipper and open it up but that is what you get when you wear a mini bag. Personally I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit of ease, means that it's not only hard for me to get into but also thieves so that's actually on the better side.

All in all it is definitely a purchase I am pleased with and a handbag I would suggest to any mini bag lovers, such a great investment and a versatile piece for your wardrobe.
