Some Brands to Follow

Updated: Jan 24, 2020

I feel that shopping local businesses is important, and when those businesses happen to have great clothes it helps.

One of my favourite stores in Victoria is Bernstein & Gold, they have amazing items from some of the top brands. When I say top brands I mean items that you're going to have for a long time because of how great the quality is, items that you're really going to want to wear. The staples, the accent pieces.

Smythe the Brand is Canadian for starters, and they recently did a collaboration with Jenny Bird, another Canadian company on a blazer, (unfortunately no longer available). Their blazers are what they are best known for with the impeccable tailoring, so it hits in all the right places. I found out today that it is not just Canadian designed brand but several of their pieces are also Canadian made too.

Cami NYC is the place to look if you are looking for the cami of your dreams. The fit on their Racer Charmeuse camis are phenomenal as I believe that they work for several different body types. The silk drapes nicely and feels soft and looks absolutely gorgeous. They have several other styles of camis from The Leia, The Axel, The Sweetheart Charmeuse and more. They have several other products including silk joggers, which oh my stars.... They are gorgeous and I can only dream about adding a pair to my collection. Now let me clarify, when i say joggers I don't mean sweats I mean jogger style pants, although if you want to lounge in them at home power to you! They have beautiful silk slip dresses for several different occasions, blazers and much more. Great staple pieces that are functional for all different occasions with lots of colours to chose from. (I'll save my Cami NYC pieces for when it's a little warmer though.)

Soia & Kyo is a big one for me as I think it has really shown me that jackets and coats are one on my favourite items to shop for and style with. They are Canadian designed and so many of their coats are great for a colder winter like we're having right now in Victoria. The Elloise is a 3 in 1 coat which has a detachable shell that you can wear on its own, or put away to wear the outside only or put all three together for a cozy winter coat. As soon as i saw it on Bernstein and Gold's instagram page I wanted it. So far with the snow we have had in Victoria it has been perfect. Soia & Kyo have unique designs and the pieces are so functional, quite a few 3 in 1 pieces!

That's all for today as now it's time for homework but I'll be back with a new post next week!

PS I didn't do any denim brands in this one since I'll save that for another time.
