For quite a while now I have struggled with sensitive skin which has affected the kind of skincare and makeup I was able to use. But it wasn't just that, it meant that at no specific time whatsoever I would have these horrible breakouts. It embarrassed me.
Since around August of this last year my skin has been worse than ever with deep, painful ones at least once a month and has scarred so badly. It had come to a point where I wasn't comfortable without make up, even in front of the people I am most comfortable around. I was wearing makeup every single day trying to find a way to cover the scarring but also get rid of the acne all together or at least minimize it. Which of course only made it worse.
After being so stressed from starting school, and working the break outs got worse and I ended up buying some clean products.
I started with skincare as Sephora has their "Clean" sections on the app and website which makes it easier to find. Eventually I felt like I was trying too many things to know what made a difference, and I ended up trying some products from Éminence Organics. Their products were suggested by one of the ladies at Bernstein and Gold which is one of my favourites in Victoria. She suggested the Clear Skin Probiotic Masque and said that I should wear it to sleep in to get the best results, and suggested some other products that are suited for problem skin. I have been using the Clear Skin line, including the masque and moisturizer along with the Acne Advanced Clarifying Masque for spot treatment, and as a weekly masque.
Since then I have decided that cutting ties with products that are not natural might be a good way to try to get my skin back to normal especially after seeing trailers for the Toxic Beauty documentary which really makes you think about what you are putting on your face.
Goop is in my opinion on of the best sites to educate yourself about clean beauty as they have lots of posts about it and lists of some of the products they suggest.
I have always loved makeup, but I want to find a way to enjoy it and have it still be something safe to put on my face, and know what's in it.
I am starting to build my Clean Makeup collection and will have more to share once I have tried some more brands and products
